Why do hiphop artists refer to a woman as "mama"?

because it is a term of endearment, as is "ma" "queen" "Wifey" "Boo" and "sista".

G'day Little Lady 88, Thank you for your question. I was tempted to say that their mama is probably the only person in their lives. However, Allmusic.com lists 413 songs called Mama and there are plenty of other variations. If I read correctly somewhere: the same reason biker reputably use the term. Because alot of the women they know, as a consequence of lots of sex, particularly unprotected sex, leads to them actually being mothers.
