  • I used to believe that, but that was when I was younger. After a stint at my old address, I met a few unsavoury fellows who might well be the lowest form of life on Earth. While I made every effort (and then some) to communicate, there was no common ground.
  • It is USUALLY true that you can find some sort of common ground with people, but I have met one person that must have done their darnedest to avoid that common ground lol!
  • I try to be nice to everyone. If they don't reciprocate, I'm even more nice to them. It drives them off:P
  • I think that also, it's hardest to be mean to someone you actually know. Some people clearly don't care at all, but there's times and certain neighbours who you can 'break' through to by being nice and saying hello first. I think you've done a good thing! Well done.
  • It's nearly impossible to have no common ground with someone. There are people I've considered myself to "hate" that I find myself thinking "Huh... Well I guess s/he was bound to have at least ONE good thing about him/her".
  • We share 75% of our DNA with bananas, so commonality always has primacy! Really, the tendency to focus on (and magnify) our differences is very powerful, and it's the source of much of life's troubles. The ability to just listen without judgment to another person almost always illuminates common ground.
  • Yes, and when all else fails, resort to your friendly, neighborhood Sockpuppet:)
  • If you want a FRIEND, find a common ENEMY
