  • Honestly I think you should contact your Veteran support services... they might have a hook up that maybe can provide an attorney pro bono.
  • You need to talk to a bancrupcy attorney.
  • Tell your creditors that you are a 100% disabled veteran and am still trying to climb out of a mountain of debt graciously left to me by my ex, and if they play hard ball with you, that you will play hard ball with them. Inform them that while you are willing to pay back on a reasonable schedual, your capacity to pay it all immeditely is quite limited--perhaps nonexistent. Inform them, that there are no debtor prisons in America--haven't been for quite a while in fact. Also, I believe that Texas law is generous to debtors--not as good as Florida, but better than California. I recommend that they read this article http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shay%27s_Rebellion about veterens in similar distress 200 years ago. Be civil, but not intimidated--such is their tactic.
