I don't even see this as a distant future thing. With areas in the world where water *is* a scarce commodity, and arguments over it... I would not be surprised if a war broke out over water rights within my lifetime.

I think that is coming far quicker than we anticipate, our earth is becoming a dryer planet, in a lot of places, ( Australia is a dieing continent) water scaraties are becoming far more frequent, so yes, with mankind and their inevitable attitudes, .........
