it's more a personal opinion, both industries are ever changing, and both devoloping new models all the time, general motors, and ford, are both very large companies.

I agree with Kapo. Its really what kind of vehicle you are interested in because Holden and Ford both have similar full size sedans. However, if you were more in the market for a small car of hatchback then Holden would be better. I'm a Holden man, but if I were to buy a Holden or Ford solely for towing I would go the Ford (however I would put a Holden badge over the blue oval) no, honestly Ford drivetrain is better but the overall design leaves a lot to be desired. You can't beat an old Holden ute though like my WB.
