  • As with any travel, watch your things carefully, but have a great time. Of course, see the main sites, but see if you can find out about things that are not so well known but perhaps just as beautiful as the traditional tourist haunts (eg go to Pompeii, but also to Herculaneum, the other city buried by Vesuvius in 49AD). Do your homework before you go. Look at the net and see the sorts of things that exist in each of the cities you intend visiting, and in the vicinity of each.
  • can i come?
  • just remember-the greeks may have invented sex, but it was the italians who got women involved!
  • if youre fair skinned be warned the italian men (are beautiful) will not leave you alone, as they walk past, they say 'bella bella' and are not slow in coming forward
  • NEVER let your attention drop, on any belongings that might be vulnerable to theft. Have extra money stashed in a safe place, if possible, or available by wire or mail. Don't take more than one of anything you bring with you, and keep your stuff at a minimum required for only the anticipated duration of your trip. Be prepared to spend a little time having laundry done for you if your stay away from home could outlast what you take with you. If you have little or no experience operating a scooter, take a taxi, bus, train, or other means of conveyance because native drivers might not understand your inability to get out of their way.
  • If you can while in Italy, climb Mt. Vesuvious and take a drive on the Amalfi Coast. You can go to Pompeii too, but It's only interesting for a few minutes.
  • I'd highly recommend Santorini island. It's gorgeous :) http://www.santorini.net/
  • Try not to look like a tourist, or one that isn't aware of the things about people around you. Get a money belt to stop pickpockets. Otherwise, remember that Europeans are really wonderful people. I had a great time when I went to London and Amsterdam.
  • http://goitaly.about.com/od/planningandinformation/tp/topcities.htm The Top Italian 10 cities listed are there for a reason--they all have lots to offer. http://gogreece.about.com/cs/grksightseeing/a/toptennumberone.htm The same for Greece with this link
  • I take a group of Black women to Italy every September (www.blackweekly.com/italy). Take the time to learn a little Italian. A little goes a long way when asking for help. Over all Italy is pretty safe except for petty crimes like pickpocketing. The men do like black women and flirting is a way of life in Italy. Sistas in braids should make an extra effort in not being confused with the large number of African hookers in Italy. Rome is the best!
  • Hi, it seems like the basic rules have already been covered. If you happen to visit the Vatican in Rome or any other famous church in Italy for that matter, it is tradition that you keep your shoulders and knees covered. If you don't do so, you will be turned away. There are shawls offered for sale usually outside. You can wear a dress that covers your knees or wear capri pants. I don't know what part of Greece you'll be going to , but if you have time, Oia on Santorini is a great village to visit. The food and scenery will take your breath away. Have a great and safe trip!
