  • Because they sneak it out of the kitchen thinking you wouldn't let them have it anyways. There may be other reasons too, but that was my siblings and mine.
  • blablabla
  • Some young people also like to eat alone because it gives them a sense of control. You may have absolute authority over them all day, they think, but by golly, they're gonna eat this bag of oreos in dark of night! (Particularly in households where healthy eating is strongly emphasized, sometimes clandestine munchies are a small act of rebellion.) Diet is one of the few things children can control, and this desire to snack alone is a relatively harmless manifestation of that need. It should, however, be closely watched--attempting to control diet sometimes develops into eating disorders. Is your child hoarding too much food? Is your child binging? Is your child obsessed with food or his/her figure? If your child suddenly gains/loses a lot of weight, refuses to eat with others, or exhibits sudden personality changes, please speak with them--and a doctor.
  • Because hiding it on top of their beds would be silly, not to mention uncomfortable :P No, this is something me and my brother did at a time, when we were around 11. We stole food from our grandmother's refridgerator and hid it in a wicker basket. There was no real logical reason for doing so, it was just fun to eat snack foods at night. We didn't really know the rules about eating, all we knew is that there was breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We had just moved in with our Grandmother and had little freedom with her house, so we never went into the fridge- more because we didn't know we were allowed than we were forbidden. So stealing food at night was an act of boredom and possibly rebellion to unclear eating rules. When she finally found the food the natural question is "am I not feeding you enough?". In our case, it wasn't about hunger, it was about breaking her strict rules and having fun when she couldn't moniter it. My sister's case is a differant one, however. She had an eating disorder brought on by deep depression. Stealing food was her only means of control in her life and it got out of hand. I cant speak for what kind of household you live in, but it's something that can be serious or can be mundane. If they are older teens odds are that it isn't hidden but just kicked under there because they were eating and got too lazy to throw it away- in which case a good room-celaing is all you need.
  • I use to do this at time when I was a kid. I use to have a old empty cigar box that I would stash goodies in. The reason I did it, was for more of the "excitement" that I had a "secretive" stash. My parents didn't mind me having the candy or food, and they even knew I had it. It was just more mysterious and intriguing that way.
  • Here's a list of reasons I made, on why kids/teens hide food under the bed... Well, sometimes, it's out of embarassment. Like, if they think their family members are gonna mock them because they still drink from a bottle, there's a chance that the child may hide their food under their bed. Another reason is, the child doesn't want the monster under their bed to eat them, so, sacrifices their food. They don't want Santa to eat all the cookies for Christmas, or it's the other way around. They hide cookies under their bed so they have some more for santa just incase cookies run out. Children/Teens have invented a new version of hide-and-seek, except, with the hiding of the food. they may also be curious to know how good an animal's sense of smell is. Fear, the dreaded siblings, for they, can blackmail. They can also bribe their other siblings to do as they please, though. The child/teen fears that they will get in trouble for 'stealing' food (or taking too much), so they hide it under their bed. They're keeping something under the bed, like, maybe a rat, an ant, or a spider named Harry. They can also be keeping an imaginary friend under there, or a real, physical friend, and of course, want to keep them alive. Or maybe give them food poisoning.
  • I don't know why they would hide it under their beds. When I was a teenager, my younger brother and I would come home after a night of recreation with a serious case of the munchies. We would (quietly) raid the refrigerator for anything that could fulfill our cravings. The most memorable nights were when we found a lemon meringue pie in the fridge. We would grab the whole pie and two forks and make a beeline for the garage. We would turn on the light in the back of the garage, and put the pie on the seat of my motorcycle. Then we would stand on either side of the cycle and devour that pie. I estimate the average lifespan of a pie was less than six minutes when a 17 year old and 15 year old boy get their forks into it. An aside: I found that whole "warm apple pie" scene in the movie American Pie to be totally unrealistic. I can't imagine any teenage boy ruining a good pie like that! Pies are for eating!
  • some time why we(kids) hide food under our beds can be cause parents say u have to pack a piece of fruit and when we get home and haven't eaten it (whether refusal or forgetfullness) we dont want to be yelled at for not eating our fruit or other food we dont like. another reason is that when kids get sent to thete room an get the munchies the cant get out with out being yelled at another is parents dont like it and its definate which make the food taste even better
  • some times they (kids)think its not good or their body health not accept that paricular dish ,that is the reson
