  • Probably just an economic slowdown or a mild recession, but not necessarily a full-blown recession. "The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has said that the world economy will grow much more slowly in the next two years as a result of the credit crunch. In its latest economic forecast, the IMF says that world economic growth will slow to 3.7% in 2008 and 2009, 1.25% lower than growth in 2007. The downturn will be led by the US, which the IMF believes will go into a "mild recession" this year." http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/business/7338326.stm

  • "our country"? You know, not everybody here are from the US. However, the way I see it, without being an expert at all, the American economy is VERY much in recession. It's not necessarily a bad thing though, it's only natural for a country's economy to go up down
