Get books relating to the subject you wish to study, read them. It's extremely easy to educate oneself, though I would thoroughly recommend school education instead of or as well as self-education for younger people, and think that at least minimal schooling is essential to being properly able to educate yourself easily.

I'm a junky when it comes to watching Booknotes on C-SPAN. I like to listen to authors telling stories about their books and I buy many books after hearing the authors. I also enjoy watching the history channel and the John Adams mini-series on HBO. These are just some of the ways I educate myself. I also learn many new things participating on AB.
