  • God established a law by which veracity was to be varified by two or more witnesses. http://scriptures.lds.org/en/2_cor/13/1#1 is just one place where this law is mentioned. Missionaries got out in pairs so that they can follow this law as they testify of the Gospel. As for the way they dress, when out teaching they want to look professional. This means dressing up. For the Elders this specificly means at least dress slacks, shoes, and socks, white dress shirt and tie. However, it does not necessarily mean short sleave shirts. When I was a missionary, I wore short sleave shirts in hot weather. However, as the temperatures fell I moved to long sleave shirts and full suits. So, what a missionary wears is somewhat dictated by the climate where he is serving.
  • So everything is done in twos.. well except for pluralistic marriages. The more, the merrier.
