I just saw a snake in the woods in Florida. Is there a website that can identify the species? I have googled it & I can't find it.

Do you have a picture of it or of one like it? I might be able to help, especially if you have a good shot of its head, then a decent shot of its body.

From your description, the snake you saw was an Eastern Coachwhip (Masticophis flagellum flagellum). They are non-vwenmous, but can and will bite if harassed. Here is a picture. http://www.kentuckysnakes.org/snakes/coachwhip-mid.jpg
