  • Yes, a degree is necessary for a professional career. While it is possible to get a professional job without a degree, your chances are reduced considerably. When you have a degree, there is no limit to what career path you can take. Without one, middle management is usually about all you can reasonably hope to achieve.
  • It really helps to have a college degree to get a job. I wouldn't want to sugarcoat this truth because these are the statistics, and those with college degrees do make more than those without. This is not saying that someone inherently bright couldn't get lucky, stick with a job and work his/her way up the corporate ranks, etc. But, the market is becoming increasingly competitive and now we are nearing a "recession".... so I would say that even if it had to be one class at a time, it sure would be worth it. Hope that helps answer your question :)
  • I am a ramp supervisor, i have no college degree at all, and I make decent money really good benefits so no you do not need a degree to make good money, as for those who say things about your grammer, ignor their butt, if they dont like it so what, they can go to next question.
  • Like another user has said you can make a nice and decent living without a degree, you can make money and provide for those you care. The degree is needed to go higher up in the knowledge and work world (force), if you would want to be a CEO you would require a degree, but after all who is to say what you want to be or do in the future. Do your very best and that should be more than enough, you are a good person don't let others think for you and get ideas into your head, use your own criteria and judge for yourself. Good luck to you. Regards.
  • I guess it all depends on what career you are looking into. I have not gone to college yet and I'm now 26 -- but you know what? My age hasn't deterred me from it. I just have no desire to go right now, as I am making great money working onboard Amtrak trains as an LSA (and I'm thinking of moving up to A/C or Conductor, or even Engineer). I started when I was 21, and only had graduated high school with an honors diploma and thats it. I realize some professional people make loads more money than me, but thats ok. I make $20 an hour for doing what amounts to selling food and drinks in a cafe, plus tips I get (which roughly equals out to an extra $2 an hour when you calculate it out). AND Railroad Retirement is sooo much better than Social Security :) Obviously I don't have the years for it but I'll be thankful when I reach the age of retirement.
  • I"m self taught and never got a degree.Just went to JC for about a year. I have worked as a technician in R&D. Have a license with the FCC to operate a TV station or radio station as An Air Operations Engineer. I'm now a small businessman with my own business.
  • I guess it all depends on where you are setting your goals in life as to if you need a degree or not. Myself I have other education because my parents pushed me right out of high school and you know I wasted 18 months because I never even went into that field. I worked many other jobs in my life and then at 47 went back to school just because for computers, I make $50.00 per hr when I go out. I'm my own boss, My hubby went right from high school to a county job worked his way up from groundsman to manager, will retire in 5yrs. So it just depends on your will power and where you wish to go, and yes I feel to a certain point high education is necessary but only if its what a person truly wants and is willing to put their heart into it and apply it to their life. As for your grammar, tell them laugh if they can't take a joke and move on, there's more serious things in life than a grammar mistake.
  • To answer your question YES I will add proper grammar and spelling skills are important as well as speech if someone wants to be successful in the business world of today. The competition is in the extreme.
