Is Russia still a risk to the US? If so, why?

    Yes. It frequently sides with our enemies, providing them with weapons and intelligence. Putin is just a KGB thug who erected a couple of monuments to Stalin and is taking Russia back toward Communism as fast as he dares.

    No, Russian people are much like Americans and other European countries. There will always be some friction political, economical; but in general once the people tasted even a little freedom I don't think it will ever go back to communism. .

    The big problem right now is corruption.
    Russia is going through a transition right now and it will take a generation or 2 for it to settle down a bit.
