Do remote control helicopters work well? Do they actually hover in one spot? Are they easy to land?

Most of them work well. You might have to shell out the big bucks for true hovering, but most of them have soft legs which are easy to land on, and absorb impact. Just know, they use a lot of battery power, and the remotes always use those rectangular batteries.
