  • You can't change other people's actions. Only your own. If you ignore these texts you are sending a subtle answer. Sometimes these texts, or unexpected calls of no consequence or relevence are an attempt by someone to communicate that they'd like to communicate... but they don't know how, or are uncomfortable saying what they'd really like to say. They are attempting to open the door, hoping that your response will start a dialogue.
  • It sometimes means that they see you as a friend. Or want to talk. Or are bored. Or all of the above.
  • If I hadn't texted them in a long time, I wouldn't use an occasion like that to start it up again.
  • Just don't text them back. If you always ignore the nonsense messages they will probably stop sending them.
  • They realize they have gone for some time without communicating and the "damn" is the icebreaker to restart as if they had never been away. Your best bet is not to respond to insignificent texts. Its smart that you realize you don't "have" to respond. Practice restraint by not answering the phone, give your voice mail a chance to work for you! Good Luck!
  • Maybe it's a way to "break the ice".
  • Maybe they accidentally sent it to the wrong person!
