  • Come to Canada--we wear all sorts of hats! I wear a fedora!
  • it seems they have gone out of style and been replaced by those cap things that do nothing but make the wearers look like dorks!...:):)
  • Most men are afraid of "looking good" and are also too lazy to dress up. Even personal grooming habits are sometimes neglected. Egad! Men in the 50s and early 60s knew that dressing well (not necessarily fancy or spending a lot of money) was a sign of respect----not only to themselves but to the public as well. :)
  • I work and go to classes at my university's barn. I'm a Western Equestrian Studies major. All the men and guys wear cowboy hats...So, this question doesn't apply to most of the men I spend time with!
  • Which men are you referring to? I have a very fine custom "gunslinger" style Stetson (think Stevie Ray Vaughan). I wear this often for casual as well as dressy ocassions.
  • Probably only older men. Hubby picked up a really nice new hat just last week, but he's usually in the minority when he wears it.
  • I'm not sure but I think JFK started the trend..it made him look so macho, out in the cold New England weather, braving the cold winds and snow flurries. That's my guess..I'm sure the hat industry didn't appreciate that! :)
  • I do wear a hat. I've only taken it up in the last year. I like the way is makes me look, and it provides a remarkable amount of warming in winter and shade in summer (different hats). The point against is taking it off when you enter homes and remebering where you put it.
  • I own a pimp hat I bring out every now and then.
  • I think it's the whole "casulazation" of everything. cheap flip-flops, pajamas in public, etc.
  • Personally, I just don't wear them because I'm so picky I can't find one I like. I hate baseball caps, but I love a good fedora, but I haven't been able to find a decent one anywhere. Not to mention the rest of my wardrobe doesn't exactly jive with that kind of hat.
