You can't. I tried for years. A smoker, like any addict, has to WANT to quit in order to succeed. Unfortunately you can't make them want to quit or give them the willpower to do so. The best you (or anyone) can do is be supportive of their efforts, and not nag. Nagging just adds to their stress and makes them want to smoke even more.

You cannot get someone to stop smoking if they don't want to. If she does want to, you can help her by finding some great tips on the internet. If you are a minor child, and she is smoking in the home, you can call family court and ask for an advocate to help you find a non-smoking foster family to move in with.

You cannot make another person stop smoking, but you can speak with your Mom and tell her you wish she'd quit. Keep it up. Continue to mention it to her. I don't mean every day. Don't heap it on all at once, but don't let her forget it either. Above all, she should know you care enough about her to make her WANT to quit.
