  • Jesus is God! He has no need to speak in tounges because He invented language. Look in your Bible at the tower of Babel, this is were God confused the language of the people in order to prevent them from trying to get to heaven through the power of their own hands, namely the tower. Much later in history in the book of Acts we see that confusion reversed by God so that all present could understand in their own language the good news from God that was being preached. this was a temporary condition specificaly from about 30 AD through 70-90 AD, and was used to spread the gospel before the Cannon of scripture, what we now know as the bible, was put together into one book. The gift of tounges that is so prevelant today is a false gift and has been documented on several occasions to be the channeling of fallen angels or demons. If you look at the book of Acts and see what the gift was given for and then look to see the way it is being used today you should be able to see that it is not from God and does not agree with the Holy Scriptures. If everyone in a church already speaks the same language then why would there be any need to speek in one that nobody present can understand? Doesn't God want to reveal His word to us not shroud it in mystery? I hope this is helpful to you, God bless
  • Nope. He ascended into Heaven before the experience in the Upper Room - which was the first biblical instance of speaking in tongues.
  • Nope. that came in the first chapter of acts, after Jesus ascended
  • I am going to agree with Reverend Jim in part. Jesus, being divine, would have access to all of the gifts of the Spirit when ever He needed them. Being divine, these gifts come from Him. So why would he not be able to speak in tongues. I am also going to agree with Reverend Jim in that the purpose of this gift is to facilitate the communication of the gospel among people who don't speak the same language. However, I am going to disagree with him in that I don't think that this gift has been taken from the Earth. I think that it still exists in the form of allowing missionaries to learn a new language faster than normal.

  • The gift of tongues was a display to the people on the day of pentecost that God authenticates the gospel of Jesus. At Babel man was displaying his arrogant belief that unity and working togeher somehow will make it possible to reach God. Peter preached a sermon that said that Jesus of Nazareth had accomplished the way to God. That being through the fulfilment of the sacrificial system accomplished at Calvary. God reversed in a remarkeable way what was lost at Babel to show the world that Jesus is the only way.
