I am trying to upload an image to a website. I have saved the image as a file in the website's database. I am trying to reference the image file in another file so as to make the image appear floating to the right of a paragraph. i get an empty box.

well, of course the img src tag has to have a query that will return the binary file. but, also make sure that the content-type is set correctly, or you will have that problem precisely. It HAS to return a content-type: image/gif o image/jpg so it will show up in the browser.
