  • It is easy really if you go onto www.freeserve.co.uk (it maybe .com) you can register with them for free even if you aren't with freeserve and then you can build your own website. on this site it does not cost anything to do this, but you can create websites with other browers like yahoo, and others may cost (if you want to add more stunning things. you can even buy software (cd's) to create websites.
  • Always remember, you get what you pay for but lets start with the basics. First thing I tell ALL businesses. Protect your domain name (the name of your business DOT COM) it's your MOST VALUABLE ONLINE BUSINESS ASSET!!! If you keep waiting, your name on the internet might one day be gone! Don't wait! Buy it. It's cheap and can be considered an advertising expense on your taxes (can you say: tax deduction). I've seen domain names for as little as $4.95/year and as much as $120/year with parking and "entry" or "holding" page. I'm not sure what the rules are on placing actual URL's for services so I won't post my web address here but if you're interested, I sell domains with a 5 page web site and Content Management System (so you can change, update and add to your site when you want) for a full year for only $29/year. Email me if you're interested. AFTER you get this done, you can take your time on deciding what you want/need for your site. The great thing about being able to update and change your site when you want is, you can see what you like and dislike and get used to using a Content System. Once you've decided what you want and how you want it, then you start shopping for a developer that can get what you want done and give you the ability to update your own site (don't get caught having to rely on a "webmaster" to update your site for you - stuff like changing text and photos are easy and can easily be given access to change).
  • Lots of good answers here, but I'm not sure they addressed the original questions. My take... How do you create a website? The answer is hard to give without getting technical, but simply put you need disk space on a web hosting service. In this space you will have one or more files that make up your website. At least one of these files will be an HTML file, which means it contains both HTML markup commands and the text that people will read when they bring up this file (also called a page or a web page) with their web browser. What makes the web so powerful is that web pages can point to one another (these pointers are also called links). In fact, if yours is a business website, you will want to figure out how to get other web pages to point to yours. BTW - That's were the term 'web' comes from; all these pages linked to one another make up a kind of spider web. If you have more than one page, they may point to one another as well. Your web hosting service will give you an Internet address, and 'somehow' (that gets REALLY technical) that address will be tied to a domain name and the HTML file(s) on the disk space your web hosting service gave you. Now your website is visible on the Internet. Does it cost money? Not necessarily, but nothing is really free. Very simply put (although it gets more complicated really fast) there are three items that need to be considered. 1.) How much disk space do you want/need? 2.) Do you want your own domain name? And 3.) who's going to create the HTML files and put them online? If you don't want much space and you're willing to live with ads, you can get disk space on a web hosting service for 'free.' But remember those ads. Don't want ads? You can still find free space, but it will be limited in some other ways. Don't want those limitations? It's time to get out your wallet. Domain names are never free, but shop around. You don't need one for many of the ad supported services. In fact sometimes the ad supported services and other free space services simply will not allow you to use your own domain name (the limitations already mentioned). Are you inclined to want to dig in an learn HTML, FTP, or some web page authoring software like Dreamweaver or FrontPage? Then creating web pages and putting them online will only cost you your time. Not so inclined? Get out your wallet again.
  • One free web hosting site I know is freewebs. With them you don't have to do any html stuff. When you register you choose whether you want easy or advanced website maker. With the advanced you have to use HTML but with the easy option you don't have to type any HTML, all you type is the texxt you want, change the colour and size of it, insert polls, forms and guestbooks. They basically insert everything you want to put in. You can also insert just plain HTML which is handy for advertising schemes like Goolgle adsense.
  • First there are many ways of making a website. You can get free servers which arent very good or ones you pay for. To make it i suggest using frontpage. U should do a google search for servers. I use VDeck and it is 20 dollars a year and it works great. Also yahoo hosts but not very good.
  • Quite frankly, I really think the best answer to your question will come from you actually getting onto Google and doing a whole lot of searching. Then come back here with more specific questions. There are so many questions to ask, and be answered, to figure out what will suit your needs that no one short answer here can possibly cover all the angles. There are very cheap, to very expensive options. Start with what you want to accomplish with your site. Then ask your self "How can I accopmlish this with a web site?". What are you going to use the email for? Are you going to sell "things", or "services"? To whom? Where are they? How will you be sure they know you exist? Are you going to post written works? Why? I could go on and on. The bottom line is "What is the bottom line?". What is it for? If you have that in mind while searching Google for "web hosting", "autoresponder", or whatever else, you will have a better idea whether what you are looking at will be helpful. I just started one on freewebs.com. This is probably a good place to go to set up a totally free website, with a free template builder. You can also get your own domain through them, with email@yourdomain but that isn't free. This and most other hosts offer the email address with the hosting. A lot of them have easy to use website builders, this is one of the few that you can actually use to set up a free site (not your domain), and learn how to use a simple template based site builder. I haven't been using them too long, so it's too early to say I reccomend them as domain hosts. But it's a good place to start to get a feel for what it's all about. The site is full of ads as well (thus free to you) offering similar services. Check out the ads and see what they're all about. This is how I learned. And I still have a lot to learn. You will have questions. Bring them back here, and see if we can help. As you learn what things are, and how they work, you will know whether they can help, provided you have a clear idea of what you want to accomplish. Hope this helps.
  • if you wanna make a website that is free go to www.freewebs.com
  • There are some websites that give you free templates (if you know how use them) or otthers like Yahoo, crfeate one for you. Also try iLife, if you are a Mac user. It comes with super easy to use templates for website and blog creation. Piece of cake...
  • A basic website is created with html. There are other forms of code but html is the root. Once you learn proper html techniques, you need a storage place and a "door" to the net. You can upload your html page to a file host such as http://www.ripway.com for free and have it stream directly to your domain name. Your domain name can also be obtained free at http://www.dot.tk after that, you just need to decide what to make your site about and that's all there is to it. If you are actually interested in creating a new website then contact me, whether you know html or not, and i'm sure we can work something out.
  • freewebs.com is a pretty good one
  • Not really; I let Macromedia Dreamweaver do most of the work for me.
  • There are many ways of creating a website... please can you be more specific? A good place to host a website is http://sitesled.com You can create basic HTML pages and up-load them for the world to see.
  • Yes, I've created quit a few now, some freelance, some an an employee, some with all front end work, some with all backend work.
  • Yes and I know how to do it for FREE just go to http://www.freewebs.com/. I have even made 5 websites there.
  • Yes, I've been webdesigning for 7 years. I had a bunch of free websites before I started up on my domain. I had a domain for a year and it was a neat experience but took a lot of work to keep it going.
  • I can, and do create websites out of my own pocket. It takes up most of my time.
  • You register a domain name with a domain name registrar. See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Domain_name_registrar
  • I assume you mean instead of something like ".tripod.com". This requires you too buy a domain name. You can do this from a site like http://godaddy.com, or you can do it through a site like Tripod (http://tripod.lycos.com) If you aren't very knowledgeable about web design, I would buy the domain through tripod, which will allow you to build the site and upload it all in one place. It isn't free, but if you just need a basic site, It's only about 20 dollars a month. You can build your site on tripod with no HTML, if you want to, but it also gives you the option of HTML editing. Also, if you plan to post a lot of pictures, hyper link them from an account at a photo-hosting site (like http://Photobucket.com) The code is already made for you to post into where ever you want the picture. Hope this helps ^^
  • An easy way is to do one at Godaddy. I started one there for my son to mess around with putting pictures and scores of his games on so that his grand father could see them and he plays around with it a lot. they have a lot of predone backgrounds, screen shots, buttons and tabs and you can place anything on it you want and link to other web sites as well. It is not that expensive and you can get a 1, 5 , 10 or more pages there. You will have to buy a domain name for $9 for a year or 2. good luck and have fun.
  • Learn HTML.
  • Frontpage or Dreamweaver
  • You can find a lot of tips at the Answerbag sister site, e.how: http://www.ehow.com/Search.aspx?s=How+to+create+a+website&Options=0
  • WHATEVER you do... DO NOT use WORD or another word processor to create a website or even a webpage. They add so much crap into the HTML, when you learn, and want to edit the HTML, it will be a major nightmare. Use a program designed to create websites (and be aware that even THEY add unneeded HTML). (Frontpage, Dreamweaver, and others) Most of the hosting sites offer pages to help you get sites started, too.
  • You need something called "web hosting". The easiest way to do it is buy the domain at the same place as your web hosting. (Some good, cheap places are 1and1.com and hostmonster.com.) If you've already purchased the domain name from a company that doesn't provide web hosting, you have to log into the registrar (the place where you bought the domain name) and point the "DNS" to the server where you bought the web hosting. Usually the place you purchase web hosting will provide more detailed instructions on how to do this.
  • Try using www.mrsite.com
  • I use this site: http://www.freewebs.com It's really easy to do if you're a beginner. And its free. If you want to pay for a website, its about $ 9.99 per month. If you want to strat learning how to make a website, learn CSS and HTML.
  • Honestly. If you want to give it a little time and intellectual labor, you could do it completely free. Aside from the bills you will have running your computer electrically and paying for your own internet access (both you already pay for anyway), there is no reason to drop a cent.
  • By magic. I won't tell you. ha ha ha, ha ha!
  • I dunno...
  • Nope, deends what your going to do. Some of the best personal sites didn't cost a penny. If your just into a bit of talk and meandering then a blog is your thing get one at blogger.com or wordpress.com If you want to messa around with scripts then try freehostia.com. But if you want to buy and sell stuff then your after an ecommerce site which range from a few pounds per month to 65000 bucks plus as was paid by John Lewis for their site.

  • creating a website is really great, if want to have one their are many free website that are in your browser.
  • The first thing you want to do is ask yourself what is the purpose of my website? If it is just to post your thoughts, consider doing a blog type site. You can either host it yourself through the service of a host or you can host it for free free from services like wordpress.org or blogger.com. I prefer to host it myself. There are thousands of host, I use http://pinpointwebhosting.com/ primarily because of their fast servers. If your website is for the purpose of promoting a business or to earn money online you will want to buy your own domain name. Carefully choose a domain name that is related to your idea or business. This is critical. The search engines Google and Bing really pay attention to your domain name. Here is the link where I buy most of my domains at: http://www.namecheap.com/?aff=1456 The creation of your site can be be done in many ways. One, you can do it yourself. If you do not know a whole lot about web design there could be quite a learning curve. There are many great templates and free html editing software you can use. If you are a serious business and you are new to web design then I recommend hiring a professional. There are way to many things to consider when designing a website. Sites can be build using html, xhtml, php, asp, cfm and many others. Answerbag uses a data base and requires a content management system (CMS). For professional advice you can go to http://www.absolutewebworks.com . I hope this helps.
