  • This is a symptom of somebody who is bipolar. It is also a symptom of a meth addict. This turned out to be the case with my brother. It took the death of his baby to bring it to light. We all like to think it can't happen to our family. Please seek professional help. Nobody here can diagnose your daughter.
  • Is she on her period? How old is she? Old enough for medipause? If she's a teen it's normal.
  • I'm bipolar. Is your daughter bipolar...? I agree with everyone who's advised you to get an other opinion than from people on an internet sight. A medical one for that matter... I wish you good luck and I hope your worries will become something of the past....
  • My 38 year old daughter has had excruciating "mood swings" since birth! She has meltdowns about every 2 years since she was 14. I have suspected a personality disorder & the most recent event occurred last April. I'm not able to to resolve this issue within our family since her DH facilitates her behavior in order to "keep the peace" in their family. Does anyone in this forum have a suggestion about how to encourage/convince someone who "doesn't think they they have a problem" to obtain counselling/help? She obviously needs counselling, yet projects her dysfunctional behavior on ME. I'm willing to receive counselling to resolve this issue, yet she believes it's a one way street and doesn't need to participate in getting the family issues fixed. Any suggestions?
  • It can be, although normally occurring mood swings (especially in teenagers) are often mistaken for symptoms of bipolar. bipolar is wrongly diagnosed quite often. Is your daughter a teenager? maybe she is just stressed out. when i was diagnosed bipolar, one of the other things that the doctors looked at was the amount of sleep i was getting in my manic phases, and my depressions. maybe you could start observing how much sleep she is getting and whether or not she is tired. i would advise you to see a doctor or a mental health professional though. nothing an internet forum can tell you, although we may have good advice, is good enough. go talk to someone.
