It depends on the cause. ED pill causes can be treated with other medicines which usually "turn off" the mechanisms "turned on" by the ED pill. One of the common medications is an decongestant: pseudoephedrine and/or terbutaline which may cause the blood flow to be reduced. Certain vaso-active type drugs including epinephrine may be used, causing the blood vessels to constrict and stop or prevent priapism from recurring. See usually in the case of ED medications there is too much blood flow - more in than out of the penis - so if you can reduce the blood flow in the erection should pass. Aspiration (Ye old needle) is used if there is poor blood flow or constricted blood vessels - which are more common in injuries - a hemotoma - in essence a 'bruise'. This would of course be an emergency situation. Mind 4 hours is the time you need to get to ER to address the issue with the best therapies being drug therapies. Longer than that physical damage can take place which can lead to injury (hematoma) in which case aspiration is needed. aspiration means to draw out with suction.
