When I was in HS and college, poetry and writing songs helped me keep from being lonely, now that I think about it. My song "My Ol' Guitar" was more true than I remember thinking it was back then. ;-)

I's say that's not necessarily the case - I'd rather have water, food and oxygen myself. Art and poetry are essentially useless - nice and beautiful sometimes, and I enjoy both very much. But humans cope quite well without either.

It's a form of expression! There's no point living if you can't express yourself and those that can't through art and poetry can relate to it instead!

if not for my expression through art i probably would have killed myself by now or at least mutilated myself terribly through cutting. I'm happy I found a way to express myself that not only makes me happy but that others can enjoy too :)

Art and poems are life - they are an aspect of being human. There is no seperation. Through expressing oneself and then experiencing anothers creativity we conenct as humans. We are social beings. It is an expression of our communication.

because it gives people a door to let all of their emotions out of. if they didnt have a way of expressing themselves then everything would just be kept bottled up inside of them, until they burst! dont you do anything to let your emotions out? everyone has something that they do, dont they??? =)
