It was before the iron curtain fell, we still believed that someone would push the wrong button and the whole earth would glow in the dark. We were in more economic turmoil than now, we were still shaking off Jimmy Carter double digit inflation. You could get a CD that paid 15%. An IBM PC/XT with a 4.77 mhz processor and 512kb or RAM sold for $1,500.00 (at discount). You could hammer nails with the keyboard. No one knew who Bill Gates really was... some sort of freckle faced kid that bought Q-DOS for a song and sold it to IBM for a fortune (PC-DOS). If you wanted to look at the best assortment of computers you had to go to Radio Shack. Cell phones came in a bag and darn few people had them. You couldn't get software support if you owned a Compaq, the excuse was your PC wasn't fully IBM compatible at the BIOS level and that's what they always blamed. Leisure suites with wide lapels and blow dry hair looked just as rediculous but more people had them. The phone bill was absurd at $14.00 a month. The cable bill was absurd at $24.00 a month.

The 80's was the era that gave birth to MTV and videos even by the standards of THAT day sucked. There were 2 black music artists with videos... Prince and Michael... Miami Vice was the hottest show on TV and gave birth to the fashion that offically killed the disco look... and replaced it with Pastel Pink and Whites and those of us that worshiped in the chruch of Sonny crocket wore deck shoes with no socks. Hair plastered with mousse stood up like wings on a birs of prey and Ronald Regan ruled the roost...
