Pretty easy to tell by the one I have right now...no. It has to be centered though or else there is a remote chance I will get very mildly irritated.

Every site I've ever been on uses square avatars. I've never seen a site use anything other than square avatars. Though, with a little creativity, you can make your avatar appear to be some other shape.

Maybe the square avatars are for the square people. JK LOL. I don't really care. I just want my avatar to look good and portray myself.

First, if I'm already insane, then what would it matter? Second, if this #$^@*&^ thing takes forever to download when others in the house are downloading thousands of things # the same time, why would I even see the avatar? Third, when would I see my avatar? I don't ask questions. I don't see a point in looking for my answers, unless I'm checking something (no point in that, either). Fourth, I don't have an avatar. Fifth, I like circles ovals and swirls, not squares...so why should I care one way or another about squaring rectangles? (btw, I could go on with this much longer, but I just lost interest. So to sum it up, I don't give a flying flip about the shape of any avatar, although artistically, I will have preferences based upon what is pleasing to the eye.)
