What they don't know can't hurt you, but there is another thing to consider. If you die, your life insurance may not pay up. Many policies have clauses that render the policy void if you engage in any kind of life-threatening activity. Skydiving is often specifically mentioned, as is SCUBA, unfortunately for me.

Why would they know if you do it once? Their concern is if it is a sport of choice, performed on a regular basis. They might exclude paying if you die doing it then.

No, I never had to even mention such a thing. If you die doing it, I know your life insurance won't cover it but not sure about health insurance.
