  • Heck yea. Especially in my neighborhood
  • no, not at home-never have...
  • Yep. I also always set the alarm and the parking brake to minimize the chances of burglary and theft. My car is also equipped with a keyless starter pad system so that it can't be started with the key alone.
  • Yeah, always ... I almost take the steering wheel with me LOL
  • Yep. I live in a small town, and I still do it. I had my car broken into and my stereo stolen.
  • of course, i don't need anyone in my back seat or trunk. i don't like surprises
  • i don't think I have ever locked my car doors since I got it.
  • Oh, yes always. When I owned a 60 ford galaxy in the 80's I didn't bother and was never broken into.
  • Yes, always. I live in a residence hall on a college campus. Lots of skeezy, broke college students around, just waiting so steal stuff. Or that's what my mother says, anyway.
  • No because I don't really keep anything in it and it is not hot-wirable. Plus the most serious crime where it was parked was teenagers skateboarding on the steps of the public library.
  • Always- unless it's in the garage
  • Yes. Even though there is a very low crime rate where I live, I have known too many people who have had items stolen from their cars.
  • no i dont... once i left the boot open!!! and at 3am we had the police knock on our door to tell us we had a robbery from our car, but infact we didnt...it just full of junk! and this was 1 week after we moved into our new house... hate to think what the neighbours thought of us!
  • Nope. Nothing in it, and nobody would want it anyway.
  • Only when traveling to an urban area, mall, airport.... Within 50 miles of home the property crime rate is ridiculously low, car thefts are nearly unheard of (not that anybody would want my cars), and I leave no valuables in the car. Even my stereos are unimpressive; not worth yanking from the dash. Besides, the windows are fragile enough that locking the door is no real safety net unless you are parked somewhere where the sound of breaking glass would attract security/police attention.
  • Yes i lock my car because i don't like problems!
  • I lock my car doors everywhere I go, and when i get home my car goes in the garage.
  • Yes,ever since I had a man try to get in my car (with me in it)at a stoplight.
  • No. It automatically locks itself when the car is moving, but when the car is in the garage I don't lock it.
  • I used to and I still do as long as I am not at home. At home we (my husband and I) have to park off of an alley (no garage) and our cars are broken into occasionally. The funny part is that they rarely take anything. And it is rare that someone would steal the actual car in our area, but break ins are common. We just got tired of paying to replace windows. Once we had to replace three windows for three different break ins in one week. That is when we decided to give up on the whole locking the doors thing. Other than that the neighborhood actually is not that bad. BUT YES I KNOW I NEED TO MOVE!
  • Always. Where I live, its not a smart thing to keep your car unlocked.
  • Thieves break into more than a dozen unlocked cars in Clarkstown By Steve Lieberman The Journal News • April 1, 2008 CLARKSTOWN -More than two dozen unlocked cars parked in residential driveways have been broken into during the past few weeks, police said today. Most of the larcenies occurred in Valley Cottage, but some were in neighborhoods across Congers, New City and Nanuet, police said. The thieves took mostly coins, but also stole iPods, cameras or other items of value left inside the cars, police said. The thefts are similar to ones in Orangetown last month across the town's southern tier, in Blauvelt, Tappan and Orangeburg. Police suggest that residents lock their cars. Anyone with information on the Clarkstown car larcenies can call the police department at 845-639-5800. I dispute the words "Break In".. if you don't lock your doors, there is nothing to break in, you have invited theft.
  • I sure do! Especially since I had my first break in not too long ago...thankfully, I don't leave stuff in my car anymore! :)
