Sounds like piles or an anal fissure, best to get it checked to rule out anything more serious :o)

Are you sure it's not just beet salad he/she ate yesterday?

Ok, Glad I just read your question... 1. Is this the first time you've had anal/PR bleeding? 2. How much and what color is the blood - bright red/dark in color? Is it mixed in your stool or on the toilet paper/toilet bowl? 3. Do you notice any change in your bowel motions? 4. Change in smell/color? 5. Do you feel like you've incompletely evacuated? As in still have more stool that needs to be released after you pass a motion? 6. Do you have any pain associated with it? 7. Do you have any medical history or family history of colon problems?

You probable have a hemorrhoid that popped. I would call your doctor and get in for an appointment soon though just to make sure it is not something serious.
