wasn't his pray assumed to by, and this is paraphrasing "let your will(god) be done"? besides Jesus gave his life to save all of us, if you knew your sacrifice would save everyone every born wouldn't you do it?
-
This is purely speculation on my part, but I think Jesus prayed for the strength to carry out his Father's wishes and to make the sacrifice he knew he must to cleanse the sins of mankind. I don't believe he prayed to be relieved of his burden, but he was still human and did still feel fear and pain. Considering what he went through, I think praying for a little guidance and strength is understandable.

actually Christ prayed for strength and for the Father to take away this burden if possible..but in all things let the Fathers will be done. this shows us that its never wrong to share our feelings with our own God, whomever that might be to you. and yes, Christs prayer was answered. He conquered death ans saved the world and sits at the right side of the Father and rules in glory. im sure during those 3 horrifying days Jesus would have preferred the answer to be a little different.

He asked for strength to carry this out, HE was human.HE knew what HE had to do before HE was even born! HE did it WILLINLY , for us to have HOPE... It is also a great example for us, who should we turn to in "our darkest hours"? if we had to go through this hoorible pain and knew it was coming , I am sure we would sweat blood. which is a very real medical term pointed out by Luke the physician..so, HE wasn't desperate , HE was heavily burdened by the cross HE had to bear..hope this helps..

When he asked His Father to possibly let the cup pass him by he was talking about the cup (vial) of wrath that God would be pouring out on people.
-
It would help if I knew what you're reading. The Gospels are quite clear. 'Nevertheless, Your Will, not mine, be done.' Jesus accepted the mission, knowing the stakes. He might have preferred something less painful, but in His prayer, He did ratify God's decision. And yes, He was raised from the dead. Saved from corruption.

Praying "not my will but Thine be done" pretty definitively puts the kibosh on the idea of his being god.

Jesus was fully human, fully God. He had human emotions, and He was terrified because it is sin that separates us from God. He knew that when He was on the cross, all the sins in the world would be on Him...and He would not feel God's presence in Him. That was what terrified Him-not so much the pain of what He was going to endure, but the thought of being without His Father's strong presence at His worst time.

Yes His prayer was answered. The reason for prayer is not the result we see but the communion with God. He was not in this hour to ask his Father a favor, but to conform to His will. The sweat of blood was because of the immense stress caused by the full awareness of the hours of torture that was ahead, with His full ability at any moment to call upon legions of angels to avenge Him in this situation. He could climb off the cross all by Himself. Only one angel killed more than 180 000 soldiers in history. But then He would miss the point. It was not just about saving mankind, but also cleaning Heaven from the sin that started there with Satan. To destroy Satan, God had to create the perishable so that Satan could be subjected to it. To judge Satan, he should transgress a law. Death was in the hands of Satan but he only had the right to kill sinners. No innocent man was to be subjected to death. Here Satan went over the crossing line and therefore Jesus rose as Victor.

1 Does God ignore prayers? James 5:16 says "The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much" How much more so then if the righteous man is someone considered by many to be God's "only begotten son" and the prayer so fervent that according to Luke 22:43-44 it was the prayer of a man in such an agony that "he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground" If, according to Ezekiel 18:21, God can respond to even the wicked sinner then why not to Jesus, believed to be totally sinless. Paul appears to confirm that prayers did not fall on deaf ears. He says in Hebrews 5:7 "Who, in the days of his flesh, when he had offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto HIM THAT WAS ABLE TO SAVE HIM FROM DEATH, and was HEARD in that he feared." 2 Here are some firm indications from the Bible itself that Jesus was spared death: 2.1 prophecy that Jesus would be alive in the tomb, not dead Matthew 12:40 2.2 An assurance in the form of an angel from heaven, strengthening him. Luke 22:43 2.3 Pilate’s wife told in a dream that no harm should come to Jesus Matthew 27:19 2.4 Pilate finds Jesus, not guilty! Matthew 27:24 2.5 God saves the legs of Jesus from being broken! John 19:33 2.6 Jesus did not stay on the cross for more than three hours Mark 15:33 2.7 darkness covered the whole land, thus veiling God's rescue from prying eyes Mark 15:33 2.8 Pilate wondered how Jesus could be dead in such a short time Mark 15:44 2.9 Pilate does not issue any order to ensure Jesus is actually dead 2.10 Pilate agrees to Jesus being removed from the cross despite doubting he is dead 2.11 Jesus is not delivered to his enemies but to those who cared for him Mathew 27:58 2.12 Jesus is placed in a spacious tomb not buried in a grave Mark 15:44 2.13 The Jews realising Jesus might not be dead want a guard on the tomb to ensure there's no resuscitation Matthew 27:62-64 2.14 The request for a guard comes the next day giving enough time to resuscitate Jesus Matthew 27:62 2.15 Jesus must have recovered by Sunday morning when Mary Magdalene alone (Mark 16:9 and John 20:1) went to the tomb "to anoint him", Mark 16:1 2.16 a reserructed body doesn't need the shroud to be unwound or the stone to be moved 2.17 When Mary stood outside the tomb weeping it must have been for the living Jesus not a dead body John 20:11 2.18 A reserructed Jesus would be in no danger from anyone so there would be no need for Jesus to be so heavily disguised even Mary couldn't recognise John 20:15 2.20 Mary asks the "gardener" the whereabouts of the recovering Jesus so she can TAKE HIM away (not a dead decomposing body) John 20:15 2.21 Jesus tells Mary that he has not yet ASCENDED unto the Father, meaning he still hasn't died John 20:17 2.22 The disciples then heard that Jesus was ALIVE and had been seen by Mary Magdalene Mark 16:11 2.23 for the remaining evidence see http://www.answerbag.com/a_view/1053437

Jesus was praying about taking this "cup" from me. He was asking that the cup of wrath that He must pour out on humanity in Rev. be taken from Him.
