Why is stand up comedy not as mainstream as regular TV comedies? I find stand up much more funny than TV comedies. Would you ever watch an all stand up comedy channel?

I think stand up is funnier because it's just one guy (or girl) up there on the stage, and they're less inhibited than they would be as part of a cast of characters. They're just being themselves (even the ventriloquists), which is a lot easier to be. As for an all stand-up channel, that's what Comedy Central started out as, but they ruined themselves in much the same way as MTV did by adding other programming.
