  • Because in other forighn towns there is NO oil left.
  • Some reasons are beyond our control--India and China are growing like mad and consuming rapidly increasing amounts of petroleum, which is still the cheapest and most convenient fuel for most purposes, especially transportation. The other reasons are that the environmentalist lobby prevents us from most offshore drilling, from drilling in the ANWAR reserve in Alaska, from building any new refineries for 30 years, and from building any new nuclear power plants which would free a lot of oil now going to make electricity.
  • Exxon showed a $7,000,000,000 profit last year. The only true answer is greed.
  • how do you know one particular place which has the gas? (the world is sooo big anyway) how do you 'dig' the gas out of that place? - no idea what do u use to bring the gas out of its place? - thousands of machines maybe what is the depth of that 'gas reservoir'? and how much it costs for a meter of gas pipe? who do you refer to when a gas reservoir is discovered? ahh...who digs the hole and stuck in the pipes????? exactly..the geologist...i hate doing geology... and how much did u pay for these lousy things?
  • (1) measured in gold, i don't think gas has gone up that much -- therefore it's more accurate to say the dollar has fallen, partly because the Federal Reserve and/or commercial banks keep printing more FRN's and lending them into circulation, and partly because of other countries' estimates of future U.S. production (2) supply has gone down? (3) demand has gone up? (4) somebody's monopoly has become consolidated?
  • OPEC. For years theyve been controlling the supply of oil, giving us less or more at their leisure, strictly for the sake of money. These disgustingly wealthy individuals often turn off the tap or plug it a little to cause a spike in prices and make more cash.
  • One of the big reasons gas prices have gone up is because those on the left side of the political spectrum are choking off the supply of oil and, therefore, the products derived from oil. There are lost of places where we can find more oil, but the left won't let us drill for it. The Governor of Wyoming just recently announced that he has endorsed Obama because he promised to "protect" that state from oil exploration. We can't drill in ANWR, or off the Gulf and California coasts. These are all places with large, untapped oil reserves that we are being prevented from developing. Add to this the fact that it has been decades since the last refinery was built in this country. The bureaucratic red tape that oil companies have jump through to build a new refinery had made it prohibitively expensive to do so. You add to this the increasing demand for oil around the world and you get a recipe for rising prices. Next consider the reaction of the left to the rising prices. They blame the "evil" oil companies for them. These hypocrites refuse to look at their own roll in driving up prices. They just sit there and lament the rising prices and our dependance of foreign oil while they stand in the way of the most efficient means of solving both problem, namely developing our own reserves. Oh, and let us not forget about all the taxes that are levied on the gasoline. All of these people who complain about the oil company profits conveniently overlook the government profit on oil. The government, (federal, state, and local) get more per gallon than the oil companies do. However, do you have hear any of these people who complain about oil company profits telling the government to give some of its take back? Of course not. So, there are a number of reasons for the recent rise in oil prices, but they aren't what many people would have you believe that they are. Instead, they would have you believe that it is simply because of evil oil companies sticking it to the public as the try to rake in obscene profits. (BTW, if you have you money invested in a mutual fund or some other long-term managed investment portfolio, you probably own oil company stocks. So, you are getting a piece of those profits.) These people never want to admit their own culpability in rising gas prices.

  • they're on steroids.
  • I know there is a lot of conspiracy theories about why gas prices are so high, but has anyone ever heard of economics (supply and demand) - there is huge demand from india and china at the moment, and obviously only a limited supply. People should educate and help themselves out, by looking at alternative fuel sources (one site that comes to mind is http://www.runyourcarwithwatertoday.com which shows you how to reduce your gas mileage, by running your car on water and gas) Stop blaming government and big oil companies people!
  • Im curious to know what all of you drive???
  • My next door neighbor is driving up the price. You could run him over, but that would take gas.
  • See http://www.orangefrogproductions.com/ofp2o_auth_ops_theyareoutthere.shtml for an explanation. (Written by a friend.)
  • The price of oil has increased therefore thats why gas prices has gone up. It isn't going down anytime soon according to the media. However their is an aletrnative this guy Oliver South convereted his BMW to water gas fuel. He has a video that shows step by step how anyone can do this. There is also a review website that I found in my research that covered a few other companies that are doing the same thing. You might want to check the review site at http://waterfuelconversion.googlepages.com
  • just a conspiracy theory but we might be selling American oil in the middle east and passing it off like they are the bad guys
