Wallow for about an hour if I can't talk to my best-friend. Then try to drag myself to do something. I use to just do something, but nowadays it just gets harder and harder to move when I am not feeling well.

I usually drink my sorrows away.

Honestly, I do both some days I can sit and wallow with the best of them. Other days I start to do things and I feel much better faster. Some days its minute by minute to get through them.

I usually think about it for a little while and then I go to the Refrigerator or one of the kitchen cabinets and see what kind of "comfort food" I can find to eat. My Mother call's that "feeding my feelings."

I try to find more constructive ways to embrace my misery and hatred. Making extremely bad art and/or listening to Nirvana, for example.

I recognize self-pity, and try to dig myself out of it. (I never hate the world... What good does THAT do?) Sometimes it takes simply writing something down, sometimes it takes watching crap comedy shows, and sometimes nothing helps. Luckily, I also know I'll be out of that funk in a short time, from experience. (My father instilled in me "HAPPY DAYS" and PMA (Positive Mental Attitude). I know when things seem lowest, the only way they can go is up.
