I can't... it's silent.

I value it most highly. As a disciple of Centering Prayer, I've matured greatly by learning from Thomas Keating.

Prayers are between the Father and yourself and that is personal. But you are relating. There is a time for quiet prayers in the mind if you will. When I cant say anything and praying for someone whoo does not know or a situation I may be in at the moment and cant prayer out loud. There are prayers that need for others to hear you may be praying for them and faith comes by hearing the word of God and they need to hear. Singing is prayer and needs to be out loud and heard. There are special times for both.

There are times when we can pray silently because we want only GOD to know what we are praying about. Then there are times when praying out loud is good. The enemy will flee when the name of JESUS is mentioned...those prayers are prayers of warfare and the enemy can't read our minds like GOD can but he sure can hear us and be frightened by our boldness and use of our SAVIOUR'S name.
