Ex - racehorses can, and are successfully retrained as normal riding horses, excelling in dressage, sj, cross country and riding club activities. However, these horses are not for the "average" rider. They are pedigree thoroughbreds, bred for speed and not safety. They can be prone to bolting, whipping round and can be very highly strung so are only suitable for experienced horepersons. No, not for the average person, these horses are born and trained to RACE, that's all they know. They are usually sold to breed. Most have a wonderful retirement with all the ladies!!!!!!!!:)

Yes they can. They are often trained in dressage and some are even used as police horses etc. While they are trained to race and be competative, many have have a very relaxed manner away from the race track.

Yes! Maybe not the average person.. Although some TB's can be incredibly quiet. Most arnt. They're awesome though. I've always had them. My guy in my picture is an ex racer. He's the man =p
