  • My views are complicated. I do not think of "God" as male or female, or a completely seperate entity. I think of God as more of a driving force, an energy if you will, that we all have a part of. I typically refer to God as my "Higher Power," as I think it suits my beliefs the best. The purpose of life is learning how to give and receive unconditional love freely and openly. We are reincarnated until we learn this lesson. Only then will we move on to a better place, that is more or less an eternal euphoric state of being for your soul. I do'nt believe in hell. Contrasting to the above, I also believe there is not one path to God, and that no religion is right or wrong. I don't believe my Higher Power would be so cruel. Concluding, I believe anyone that truly is capable of and practices giving and receiving unconditional love freely and openly will experience the eternal euphoria I described before.
  • Yes...Underneath the superficial self, which pays attention to this and that, there is another self more really us than I. And the more you become aware of the unknown self -- if you become aware of it -- the more you realize that it is inseparably connected with everything else that is. You are a function of this total galaxy, bounded by the Milky Way, and this galaxy is a function of all other galaxies. You are that vast thing that you see far, far off with great telescopes. You look and look, and one day you are going to wake up and say, "Why, that's me!" And in knowing that, you know that you never die. You are the eternal thing that comes and goes that appears -- now as John Jones, now as Mary Smith, now as Betty Brown -- and so it goes, forever and ever and ever
  • DUPE>>>
  • Not in the Abrahamic religions. Those promise eternal damnation for anyone that doesn't accept their religion. Philosophically speaking, being moral is completely detached from the existence of an immortal soul, so... yes?
  • Yes, I think so, absolutely. I do not believe that, if there is an Almighty Creator God (which I believe there is), he is a selfish God. I don't believe he would eternally damn a person JUST because s/he is an atheist (or a heretic, or an infidel...). I believe God cares about our actions in this world: how we treat each other, the earth itself, our own selves...not him. A mighty being such as God wouldn't have an insecurity complex... IMO.
  • IF there is an eternity, then everyone goes. Imagine Heaven: It must be a revolving door, it has to be organized. People die every second. Plus all the animals. Dogs, cats, horses, other critters with personalities all go to heaven. It is either that or nothing. zero. just death and natural obliteration. you die, you wont know you dont go. does it really matter what we do here on earth. Personally I believe our eternal spirit is the sum total of our electrical synapes in our brain. They contain our past and present and our identity. Electrical energy is the energy of eternity.
  • Mark 16:15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. 16:16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.
  • Yes.But if there is too much of sweetness or gentleness or kindness then he will be suffering in this life too! When I think of sufferings, it reminds me of Buddha, who answers your description of that person!
  • You have described a perfect person. Is there such a person? I have not met him or her, but if such a one existed, there would be no impediment. My grandmother came close, but she would have been the first person to describe herself as imperfect, broken, and flawed.
  • A being of infinite wisdom should be wise enough to know that it can take care of itself. humans are puny and fragile and need to take care of each other. If a creator can truly be said to be good and wise, I think it would probably place more importance on how well humans treated each other than how much emphasis they put on worship. However, this may very well just be my puny human logic. I don't claim infinite wisdom, so i really have no idea how these things work. :)
  • the only way to eternal life is to confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and ask forgiveness for your sins and to be Baptized by the Holy Spirit.
