You know, I manage Financial Counselors in a Hospital, and I was a collector for over 12 years. I can easily see how you would hate your job, Let me share another side of this. I coach my employees to ask for our depsosits and copays regardless of the patietns financial sistuation. The reason for this is that How many of those people can I help get set up on a state program, that may not have the ability or the knowledge to do so on their own. There is a story of a lady in kansas City, who her 7 year old daughter died. She died because mom was embarrased to take the child to the hospital because she didnt have the money or insurance. The hospital did a study and asked the mom to participate, because they couldnt understand how this happended in their community. After getting all of her financial information, they found that she would of qualified for 100% charity, and would of been able to get on Food stamps, her kids only ate 4 times a week. If this doesnt help you like your job because of the difference you can make, let me know.

I used to be a skip tracer to find people who didn't pay their bills by calling their contact people and lying about who I was to try to find them (I'm her former roommate and I have some things that belong to her). It was a horrible job, and I quit. It was the best thing I ever did. The people who are deadbeats, cost the rest of us in higher fees and prices, but that didn't make it any easier for me.

I see two choices changing the way you look at your job or changing careers. You have to decide which to do.
