Jimmy was not a protest singer. Joan Baez, Country Joe, Dylan for a second, but not Jimmy. He was part of a protest movement being of the '60's generation, but not really anything I can think of that would label him a protest singer. Lighting his guitar on stange was a form of freaking out straight people, but that's not quite the same.

Hendrix was considered Revolutionary for his playing style and the sounds he got out of his guitar and the way he helped produce his albums nothing more... he was never ever considered a protest singer at anytime
