  • I have a neolithic stone axe that is about 5000 years old. My grandfather found it in a field he was tilling, in Northern Germany, in the late 1940s.
  • A Victrola from 1917
  • I have this old scimitar i found in a place we moved in when I was little, it says ''Preparate a vienne morir'' on the blade, and has drawings of animals on it, and the end of the hilt is shaped like a bird. I never took care of it though, it's completely rusty and the blade wobbles. Don't quite know how old it is, and the artwork and words on it are kinda weird. They don't seem to match really, is my sword telling animals to die? :( I also have this old pendulum clock I got in a yard sale for thirty dollars last year, and it bongs at every hour. There's no way to make the bong go away, so I don't make it work, but it's pretty and smells funky. I don't know if it's really that much of an antique, but it's still pretty old.
  • My husband, he's 53!
  • We have in our home a clay horse - head and body, no legs - about 20 inches long and about 14 inches high that parents purchased from an antique dealer who dated it to the Han period in ancient China. I think there were two periods with that name, one just before the birth of Christ and one not too long after the birth of Christ.
  • My great great grandfather smelted iron figurines for a living. We have six of the pieces that he made. One is very similar to this picture (this is not ours though).
  • a bronze Byzantine cross from the 6th-8th centuries. It has the symbols for the five wounds of Christ on it.
  • Davie, my hubby :)
  • My roll top desk, that was in an insurance office and passed from there, to my son's friend, to my son, and then to me.
  • I have a key from the 1300's. It has been specially treated to prevent deterioration and, even then, has to be handled with some care.
  • My husband's grandmother's sewing machine in cabinet. It's about 100 years old.
  • The oldest thing I "own" is a Viking dagger made in 852 A.D. ... but I have it in a museum ... the oldest thing in my home is a Ninjato from the mid 1600s.
