  • Yes. I fell in love with "Old Man River" from the musical "Showboat" We went out a few times, and I even spent the night with it once. But I could tell that the song didn't have the same feelings about me. I am not sure if it was a racial thing, or just that it didn't feel that we were compatible. Anyway, it gave me the speech about needing space and just being good friends and we stopped seeing one another. I couldn't really be ionvolved with that song and not love it, as my feelings are so intense. I went through a difficult period, and had a bit of a fling with "Mirror Man" by the Human League, but it just wasn't the same. To this day, if I am out at a bar or disco and "Old Man River" gets played it still gives me a funny feeling in my stomach and makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end.
  • The word "love" has many subtly different definitions ... some other languages have several different words for each type of love, but English has only "love or like" ... yet we do not love our favourite food the same way we love a spouse or our favourite song ... but yes, a person can love a song.
