Help answer this question below.
Yes and No. I'll elaborate, of course. But first you need to understand that a password (for most if not all messenger services) is not stored locally (on a person's computer) rather it is stored on the server of whichever messenger you use.
So No, there isn't any program that can just give you a person's password when you are chatting with them. So sorry, no "quick fix" as it were.
But there are programs called key loggers that, if you can convince them to install, or install yourself, on their computer will keep a record of every keystroke that is pressed.
Aside from that, the greatest software you have for passwords guessing is your brain. Many people use a word or name that is important to them, followed by an important date, eg: their dogs name and their birthday, or their boyfriends name and the date of their anniversary. There are also some great articles on hackthissite.org about password guessing.

I would like to point out that keyloggers can, if proven to be put on by you, be used to have you arrested for stalking, among other things.

Keyloggers also don't work all that well for those that don't actually type in their password.
As for the last paragraph, I only ever hacked a password once and I got it on the third try; the admin's son's name.

Sorry, I should have added a disclaimer. Doing any of that on a computer/account that you don't own/ have permission to use, can put you in jail.
