  • Seeing as there is no country called Palestine, it would be hard to wage war against it.
  • Let's see, who to support? The Palestinians who could have had a country 60 years ago, but they rejected the offer favoring instead an attack on Israel on the day it was formed in an unsuccessful attempt to wipe out that country. The Palestinians could have had peace anytime in the past 60 years, except they have continued to attack Israel specifically targeting civilian populations with forces that don't conform to the agreed standards for war (i.e. wearing uniforms so that the military forces can be distinguished from civilians and hiding the military forces among the civilian population). All of these policies of the Palestinians insure civilian deaths. Finally the Palestinians feed their people a constant diet of anti-Israel propaganda that is designed to keep them from accepting any peace overture from Israel. On the other hand, we have Israel which has been forced to fight for its very existence since it was created. The wars it has fought were all forced on it by neighbors that refuse to accept its right to exist. Every time Israel has made concessions to the Palestinians, the Palestinians have ultimately broken their side of the agreement. Every time Israel has agreed to a ceasefire the Palestinians have used it to rearm and improve their weapons before attacking Israel again. Israel's military does not specifically target civilian populations, it does wear uniforms to distinguish them from civilians, and does not hide among the civilian population. Finally, the Israelis don't feed their people a constant diet of anti-Palestinian propaganda such that they are not willing to consider peace with them. If you ask me, this is a no brainer. • A more neutral view of the history can be found at wikipedia: (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Palestine) I don't support war under any conditions -- pro-israel arguments are as strong as pro-palestine arguments -- the two have never been able to compromise... The UN bullied through a "compromise" in 1947, but only Israel agreed to the compromise. They fight over this to this day, the west tends to be pro-Israel, accusing Palestine of being so obstinate that they will never compromise. Israel is a relatively wealthy country -- while Palestine is regarded as one of the worst slums in the world with over 1 million living in extreme poverty in Gaza. (http://millenniumindicators.un.org/unsd/mi/mi_results.asp?crID=275&fID=r15) (There are many slums in the world, but only 10 in the whole world of this size). "Military might" kills civilians, "terrorist attacks" kill civilians... they are both bad, tit for tat killing will not restore peace. re: comments sunblynd... not sure which conclusion you are talking about? But I come to them by reading! Planet of Slums, Mike Davis -- I've also visited some of the worlds largest slums (in Brazil and India) -- and have seen first hand the fortresses built around them, so people in them have no hope of ever getting out. (Many people in the west don't realize how poor the Palestinians are -- no wonder they don't have an air force and military might.) sunblynd... what do you mean? It's a war -- it will end when both sides sit down and compromise. There's intolerance on both sides, so violence from both sides. It's got nothing to do with fear -- it's about rage and hatred and it goes back to Roman times. nevets -- you are right -- there have been compromises, and progress is being made -- and the conflict continues.
  • I don't, and wouldn't, support either. It seems to be two groups of idealogues who want to wage war against each other with little to no regard to the innocents who die in the crossfire. The innocent deaths far exceed the military deaths and always have. The deliberate targeting of civilians makes the entire infada repugnant to me; however, Israel's consistent overreaction not only disregards the "collateral damage," but only serves to create more dispair and hopelessness and fuel the radical Islamist movement. In summary: both sides need slapped with a dead, wet fish.
  • The Palestinian people have been oppressed long enough. Besides, the US already gives unconditional large amounts of support to Israel. Maybe instead of supporting Israel so much, our government can take care of its own people better. Instead of giving Israel X amount of money, give them 1/2 X amount and use the extra money to help our own country.
  • I don't support terrorism style war from either side when women and children are harmed ... but when you can only throw stones against tanks, frustration will cause desperation to embark on a fruitless action inorder to be heard and or understood ... When Israel restricts, governs and manipulates the truth, news, and politics as it has done for many many years, in order to apply its own form of terrorism via a continuous festering aggression from its past afflictions ... and continues to use its American influence to support their methods to be so righteous ... I say > the corrupt achiever will never find peace no matter whose place they choose to settle on. Sometimes I wonder if their actions are not unlike those they hate to remember most ... and they themselves may have become the modern day Nazi's. ____________________________________________________ Many Israeli's oppose these actions too ... so we must understand that this is not the act of every Israeli ... nor is it the chosen road of every Palestinian. I mean no offense to either, as I do have friends from both religious sides ... This is my opinion only ... as you have yours, which I do respect. Peace.
  • Palestine of course! The jews kill Palestinians indiscriminately. They kill stone throwing boys. They use white phosphorus to kill, burn and maim. They are barbarians. They even have smoke machines so they can perform their atrocities without anyone seeing. See in link: http://www.thewe.cc/contents/more/archive/atrocities.htm
