With the constant changes in technology, cars, etc, do you think it's odd that school buses still look the same as they always have looked?

I think they keep schoolbuses looking the same so that the youngest child can identify them. If they kept changing their style or colour children would be confused. You know yourself, when you trade in your car, and then when you go to find your new one in a parking lot, you find your still looking for the old one.Just a thought.

Although they may look essentially the same on the outside, many advances have been made in the structure of the bus, including ABS brakes, Compartmentalization seats, and three-point seatbelt design. More and stronger ribs through the roof to prevent collapse of the ceiling in the even of a rollover, cleaner engines with alternative fuels and green diesel. School buses remain school bus yellow because it has been found to be the easiest color to see, therefore, attracting a driver's or pedestrian's attention quicker. Most of these features are mandated by law.

I've wondered for some time why parents are required to use safety seats and seat belts but children on a school bus are in there unrestrained with ample room to crash around.
