Help answer this question below.

When I read the DTC codes from my Ford it gives me "628 excessive converter clutch slip detected." How bad is this transmission problem? Is this something somebody with some mechanic skills could fix at home?

No, this is a problem needing the transmission removed if the converter is indeed failing.
