I don't know what the power elite is , but I do know that people can be overqualified for certain jobs .. for instance .. why would you want to work at Walmart if you have a BA .. the store owner/manager probably has a suspicion that you are just bidding your time till you get another job that pays better. college grads should set higher goals than a high school grad

I think that is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. Seriously. Got any more wacky conspiracy theories? *EDIT* and if it IS true, then Boy oh boy....my college educated ass is screwed! Nobody will want me!!

I know some of these "elite" you talk about. I've been in their circles. I'll tell you what they are looking for. They are looking for people they can trust. People who will work hard and be grateful for the opportunity and not whine about "what they are NOT getting". The high school grad is willing to start on the bottom and work his way up- just thankful for the chance to prove his worth. He rarely disappoints. (I'm talking about a trustworthy, can-do kind of person) IF, (and that's a BIG "if") they are rejecting the current college grads, it's because the grads are vocal about "ideals" that don't quite fit into the real world. They do challenge authority, meaning their new boss, which disrupts the work that needs to be done. They also walk out when they don't get their way, and leave their employer in the lurch. There is also a problem with the college grads passing the drug tests. This is something shared at cocktail parties between the CEOs as they complain how hard it is to find quality employees. Of course, this isn't the majority of college grads. Most of them are hard workers and once they have a job - they keep it. It's the more outspoken liberal grads that haven't learned their place in the working world who get into trouble. There's no law that requires employers to hire someone who is going to rock their boat.

I think you are speaking conspiracy theory here. Some people will definately think so, but others will always think otherwise.
