What scares you most about clowns?

I dont know, but I seem to recal watching some movie or TV program with a really frightening clown in it, when I was really little. Its a bit hazy, but I remember he was a sort of Stephen King scary clown, and he looked evil & had flailing arms & stuff, and came out of the dark or something. All I know is that something like this during my early years had a hell of an effect on my view of clowns.

Their smiles are painted on their faces.

I'm not personally afraid of clowns but I imagine that Pennywise and John Wayne Gacy are primarily responsible for many people fearing them.

They stink and the smell scares me

The creepy way that they paint their faces. After reading when John Gacy was caught & after reading "IT" by Stehpen King, that did it for me w/ clowns.
