  • The glycerol ester of wood rosin is used as a stabilizer for flavoring oils in selected fruit-flavored beverages. This stabilizer weighs down the oils and keeps them in solution. The actual content of the glycerol ester of wood oil in our finished product is at no more than 100 parts per million. This concentration meets FDA (Food & Drug Administration) regulations. According to our flavor supplier, glycerol ester of wood rosin is one of the most natural of the approved FDA ingredients to perform as stabilizers in fruit-flavored beverages. • Is this a trick question? Lemonade consists of water, sugar, and lemon, therefore this company makes lemonade flavored drink product. Hey Mom, where do you keep the yellow #5? I want to make some lemonade! My advice, you should make it at home because it is healthier for you.
  • I agree there is nothing that comes close to homemade in every sense. The only time buying something makes sense is for convenience. There are plenty of better options than minute maid for lemonade. Gatorade contains ester of wood rosin as well but I do drink that as it gives alot more back than soda or lemonade but don't forget to drink water people!
  • Why do people use the answer section as a message board?? :P *does the same* Thank you Fuzzzy for the answer. I was acctually looking it up because I saw it in Grape Fierce Gatorade and I was just wondering why it was in there. Zimbotjack, radiorara, It's true that anything packaged is never the same as home made. When was the last time you had home made soup? Completely home made, not even using those little boulion cubes or pre-made broth. My guess is not in a long time if ever for most people. So .. we drink wood rosin now. YUM! xD Also, I'll add something that acctually might belong. Just because something's FDA approved doesn't mean it's acctualyl safe.
  • Most of the products we buy that contain "unknown" products are there for one of several reasons - it is a preservative, its add to the flavor, or it adds to the appearance. If a product was made up of purely homemade ingredients, it would not hold up to bottling, shipping and shelving. If it didn't go bad and be inedible, it would look bad because some of the ingredients would begin to "break down" and separate causing the product to look unappetizing - not very good for folks like Minute Maid or Coca Cola. The question we need to ask ourselves is what are these stabilizers, preservatives and flavor enhancers and are they SAFE for human consumption? I think American people should demand more of the FDA people in terms honesty and integrity when approving a product for FDA usage. Okay, so now I know what wood resin is used for, is it safe to consume according to someone with nothing to gain?
  • ester of wood rosin contains terpens, terpintine yea keep poisioning people for profit. a little corn syrup and poisin mmm thirst quencher
  • Wood rosin is a by product of the furniture industry. When the furniture factories have left over wood they sell it to beverage companies such as Minute Maid. The beverage company then extracts the rosin, which is a powerful solvent used to inhibit insect infestation during the transport of lumber. The FDA allows it because there is not enough solvent in the bottle to kill you. At full concentration, you could use the stuff to strip paint or power a Kerosene lamp.
