Do what you want. I think it's cool that users congratulate others here. It means that they pay attention to each other. A stroke every now and again is good for the soul.
-
We dont congratulate for points, we do it because someone has reached a certain level, and they arent going to congratulate their selfs, I dont care if anyone gives me points on questions like that.
-
What do I think of an insincere congratulations to someone who worked hard to achieve one of those levels so that you can get some points? Not a lot. Why not just work hard and ask good questions and give good answers like they did? Maybe then someone can congratulate you one day and really mean it.
-
Well, you can, indeed, do that. However, most of us notice if someone who is NOT a friend of the person is randomly congratulating people. Just food for thought.

it might work for people that know the person and are sincerely interested in congratulating that friend. But for just anyone to do it with no connection to the person, people see right through that and only new people who don't know any better, usually make a big deal about it. It is highly suspicious to most people here. It means more when I friend shares the good news to others for you and people who know and care about you congratulate you. Stick around a while and get to know people and maybe one day a friend of yours will make that announcement or you may get th chance to make a respectable announcement for your friend.

I agree with what others have said. Congrats from random people aren't very sincere and it seems a bit odd if someone congratulates others whom they aren't friends with. Also, some users HATE congrats questions and the few that I have posted did get points but also got quite a few donwrates too...if you really want to get points just ask some great questions, congrats questions are certainly not a guarantee of points.

i never give points to those questions...to my knowledge, that is not the purpose of AB.
