Generally, Animal Crossing uses the gamecube date/time thing, so for example on October 31styou will get a man in a pumpkin selling halloween items. Theres also ones for the equinox, christmas eve, new years day, thanks giving, independence day and many more. Check out a game site like gamefaqs.com which provides all the dates. Each month there is about 3 or 4 and sometimes things last more than 1 day. Enjoy!
Jan 1 - New Years' Day
Feb 14 - Valentine's Day
Jun 16 - Fishing Tourney
Jul 4 - "Founders Day"
Oct 31 - Halloween
Dec 23 - "Toy Day"
There are more; I'll try to get them eventually...
