It's the proper way to eat in Vietnam. It's considered rude to eat with your mouth closed.

My mother, who spent the first eighteen years of my life teaching me to eat quietly, would have a fit!

At least they don't belch.

You are by far one of the most interesting people I've ever met, even if just through AB. And I mean that as a true compliment, LT. What does that culture think about our American traditions? Have you ever discussed that with anyone there? I'd be curious as to what they think of us and the way we do things here.

Thanks...
They are shocked about:
Birthdays (everyone in Vietnam gets older on January 1)
Classroom Discipline (Vietnamese schools actually tend to be lax, though they require short haircuts on boys and uniforms are never questioned)
High School students don't have recess between classes in America
The 18 inch rule
Men don't touch men
Men touch women
Motorcyclists generally have a stigma against them (in literature and popular culture)
Quiet eating
Our overuse of paper dinner napkins
... the list goes on and on!

That's really interesting. There is so much to learn!

YES, it's gross!! Especially because they superimpose the cheese "danglings". :oP
Not that I eat fast foot anyway, but it makes it look very unappatizing!

The first time I saw that commercial it repulsed me, both with its images and its stupidity.

Yes, but mostly because it looks fake! Real cheese would thin out and continue to stretch. This looks like very long rubber bands.
If it looked real, I would be equally disgusted as it is bad manners to eat like that and not at all appetizing to watch.

I know they are just trying to emphasize how gooey the cheese is, but if I saw people doing that in a restaurant, I'd find it pretty disgusting.
