  • I liked it. It's important, because it shows men who realise they are homosexuals, but cover it up by acting tough. Which is the point that I'd throw in the face of anyone who makes fun of the movie without watching it. It also shows how homosexuality was regarded in those days, and we can see how it compares and contrasts to people's attitudes today. My only problem was that Jake Gyllenhaal didn't do enough nude scenes.
  • I knew from what friends told me that it was not a "happy" film. But what I think it shows is the lengths people were forced to go (and to extent, still do) to hide who they really are for fear of rejection and for fear of being hurt or even murdered. Back in the time the movie was set, no one could be openly gay. Many people were forced to live a lie to protect themselves. My partner and I (we are lesbians) both liked the movie.
